This has been a great thread to read guys

Do you have any video testimonials from previous happy clients MB .....or could you get back in touch and ask???

I think getting short video sales videos selling your services with a offer (widget) couples with a few really good video testimonials and good copy would be a great idea if you aren't already doing that this is .

Then get a lot of you tube videos linked with a facebook and twitter and good google ranking for your site.

Elance.com is a good source for a variety of services like SEO , copywriting etc etc.

I appreciate it is easier said than done though (ie) easy to give ideas !!!

Do you advertise in your local papers , yellow pages & various other places (library, newagents etc etc )
or place a classified add in relevant magazines ????

    Moving that Bottom-line:-
Suggest OP goes to a signwriter and get a blank magnetic sign . . this will cover the writing in matching colour and should be undetected by busy jobsworths. Seems crazy a ferry charges for extra paint.
Can you find an extra fill-in job there? Filming cows for a milk-ad, or woolens (Geddit?) or maybe a finance co that wants happy shoppers demonstrating the normality of life in a Tax Haven?
Way down will be the local Tourist Office.

Late back ( another wedding). Most video operators who don't rely on it for their main income, never have the impetus to go full time as there's always the safety net income, so many never, ever move out of the hobby type set up, which is fine for topping up and investing in new kit.
If you really are interested in going full time then there's all sorts of projects you could tackle, but they all require complete dedication and knowing you have free time to plan months ahead.
Do you work from home full time for your income now? Are you free most days? 6 months from now too? Planning ahead and taking bookings 12 months/ 2 years from now are all part of the set up for those who have to rely on income from video to pay their wages.

Hmmm - And if some jobsworth does spot the cover up?, my bottom line drops through the floor. Not worth the risk at all that one.

You can be sure we'll be filming all sorts of locations that are worth speculative archiving and contacting later, but once the principal work is done, we're gonna relax and enjoy the 'paid' holiday.

Your right about the lack of impetus when your mortgage doesn't depend on it. Which is probably the crux of the issue. ie me getting off my lazy fat arse and doing something about it.

Got the Jersey trip over now, and with hindsight, it would have been better, easier and probably cheaper to have flown the kit over there.
When you take into account the 2 lost work days travelling there and back and a half asleep day today, it's all down time.
Live and learn! - An awesome backdrop for the wedding and a cracking holiday though.

If I'd have known flying was an option I would have suggested that. I thought you would have had too much gear to make that practical. Glad it went well for you.

We discounted flying initially because of the anticipated freight charges, but in hindsight, the fuel driving there and back was £120, so maybe it would have been cheaper than that, but it would certainly have saved 2 days lost work.
Some days . . . focussing on 'the bleedin obvious' escapes me
