Oops I guess the brothel word was a firework and a half that certainly sparked a lively reaction.

I didn't really think i'd have to explain, but the immature comments arrived on cue. My workplace had a copy of Penthouse 2003 laying about, I was intrigued that there were full page brothel ads, and I'm afraid my comments are genuine, the web design is similar. Maybe I'll adjust the comment and just say the site didn't say 'weddings' to help out those that see sex as a taboo subject.

Finch I thank you for not taking offence. I think the lesson here is that no-one has the right to call themselves a professional, only your peers can make that declaration. So yes, when you call yourself this, I'm afraid you gonna get shot down.

My apology goes to the OP for ransacking his thread.

I could tell by your responses, you'd take the positives on board Shaun. Some really do get bitter at the slightest critisism, so it's good to see you're here to learn. (just like most of us here)
The earlier advice on weddings shows is tried and tested, though a critical factor is in the presentation. A good sized stand and a nice backdrop, pull/pop ups, wedding cases, big screen showing your best clips and smartly dressed staff, one female always helps.
I have a shot of our stand somewhere that I'll try to find and upload for you.
It's a matter of perserverance with these shows and knowing which are the most productive stands. Attend a couple of the big shows and you'll soon spot the eye catching layouts and best locations. Hope this helps
My opinions are just that . . . Mine. It's not personal, but is based on my emotional and professional reaction to requested critique. If you choose to ignore constructive comments, I'll just assume you're a vanity poster and not posting to improve your filming and editing skills.

    Ok Thanks.

I've had a few conflicting opinions regarding wedding fayres so interested to hear your opinions, I don't want to flog a dead horse.
We have a fairly good stand with a banner accross the front of the table, a pop up banner, a TV with the sample on a loop, several of our best cases and the sample packs. Oh... not forgetting an awesome heart shaped glass vase type thing filled with chocolates... that works a treat. We have only attended a few so far but are booked for a couple next month and intend to book a few good sized shows in the next week or 2 and see how we go this year. Also, we've just had a really good feature article in the magazine that we advertise in which focused on us. Hopefully it will bring something in.

    Thanks

Like many I started on the cheap wedding fairs and attracted low budget clients, still great fun to film, but hardly made our bank account thrive. After a few years and some advice we aimed high and went for the bigger shows. I think part of the solution in creating the bond between clients and their wedding services at shows is not to be pushy.
Some of the best advice I received was "People buy people. If they like you, they'll buy from you whatever the price. If they don't like you, they won't, no matter how cheap you are - Make em like you!"
Our wedding side is busy 12 months of the year with Winter weddings almost as popular as Summer ones. Not that we cover that many now. I like to limit ourselves to about 15-20 per year as we have other work that is usually more lucrative than weddings.
