Default Client wants PAL and NSTC version

Hi

One of my clients has asked if we could give them an NSTC version of the DVD as well as the PAL version, which we provide.

So the question is how do I do that? Is it simply a case of rendering the PAL render to NSTC?

Colin

I'm certainly not the expect on PAL/NTSC, but since no one else has replied:

At the very, very least, you'd have to export all of your finished PAL footage into a brand new project (or worse, seperate software) and re-encode and rebuild your DVD from the ground up. The worst case scenario has you investing many hours into completing this request for your client.

If I were you: do some more research on the conversion process, then make sure you have the appropriate software to even create both types. Then, and only for a significant additional charge, tell your client this can be done.

Honestly, I wouldn't consider offering this service.

My advice is sony specific.

In vegas pro you would remder hte proiject to ntsc and them use that copy in dvd architect with the architect project settings on ntsc.

Then you would need to check the disc worekd fine on a ntsc player.

Like Mark my advice is specific but this time to Adobe Premiere. When you have the video open on the timeline, go to File -> Export -> Export to DVD and when the window comes up with the dvd settings choose NTSC instead of PAL.

Hi Colin,

Which package do you use to edit?

I do a fair bit of work that needs to be done in both PAL and NTSC depending on the software your using its normally very easy,

Without going into to much detail you can do a conversion when you export the file into quicktime ready for creating your DVD.

If you need any help just shout with the packages you have available and I can give you the settings I use.

John
