Need an ecommerce payper downlaid hosting or software solution.

I imagine in todays market, wedding videographers are selling pay-per downloads or pay-per view. Is there a recommended software you can purchase or webhosting solutions which allow you to interact with your cleints. All I can find are Free Video Hosting sites but the only places I can find that have video ecomerece solutions are porn sites or million dollar video sites? Are there any options open to small business event videographers. Example, I shot and edited a video of my daughters theater group and it did not break the bank but twenty DVD's nobody paid me for is 20 DVD's How many people dupe wedding DVD's. I just think pay-per download is the future. Thanks Rick

How about integrating something like Avactis shopping cart into your site? Avantis allows for downloadable content to be sold (as most shopping cart software will probably). Think about your bandwith costs while pricing this up... quality video will cost you if you have a limited download limit with your hosting.

The last thing you want is 'Bandwith Limit Exceeded' message once someone's paid you....

I checked them out and they look promising, but I could not find anyone selling down loads on thier featured sites. I am going back tonight when the kids are in bed.

For now I am going to use 4share and setup a PayPal account on my site. I need a way to interact with may clients anyway and 4share is the only solution I have found so far that allows sharing of all file types. (Audio, Video,Still, Text, ect.) They do have an enterprise solution, but it is way out of my league.

For exhibiting my stock video library, I am going to stick with Motionbox. They do not allow stills or audio, but they are talking about it in the future. I just really prefer thier folder system over the haphazard approaches everyone else offers.

Like you said, the quality suffers, but I want that with my comp clips and the work I want to do is for the web. For the real video editing I am sending clients to QuickSpotz Spot Ad Creators Showcase where hopfully they can hookup with serious talent. Well eventually. Right now I am the only one signed up on it, so there is no talent to showcase.

My myownsite.com account does have limits on bandwidth, but the other two did not say much about it and now I think I had better go back and reread the fine print.

I assume that one of the motivations for posting is to promote your site and develop this as an income stream.

To be honest, your quickspotz site is in dire need of a design overhaul. I'm also not really sure that your business model is sound; the pay per download market works so well as a model for music and video as the consumer simply doesn't want or need the 'dressings'. It's my opinion that the couple and their parents want a DVD as a keep sake and certainly won't pay to download. Equally, any guest that wants to view the DVD will more often than not create a copy or borrow an original.

Don't get me wrong, I see a potential in what you're trying to develop, but I think you're somewhat limited if you're looking for an off the shelf solution. If you're serious about making this into a businees model I recommend that you invest in creating a bespoke solution. It won;'t be cheap, but what you're trying to do is not something that can be done cheaply in my opinion.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but bear in mind that by posting affiliate links on the site, you've shown me that you intend to turn a profit out if this. And if you charge people for a service, you need to be able to justify that charge.

Good observations and right on the money.
My problem is, though I love video editing, my talent is far behind what I see on the web. The Wedding Sites I have visited are producing movies.
I picked up two JVC GHD1's last year but I can't seem to find the instant talent button. I have been volunteering may services around town for non-profits to get experience, but I just could never make the commitment to do weddings. You guys commit yourselves one to two years in advance and the quality standards you are setting for the compensatation you are recieving leaves me out of the game.
Thats why I thought maybe I could compete in an area that isn't quite so defined yet. Web commercials tend to be quick low quality disposable spots, aleast at this time. I really have been trolling for video editors and web designers in the same boat as me who think the idea might work but I really seem to be turning them off with the rinky-dink website and the business model is non existant.
As far as your advice on the pay for downloads, especially for weddings, it was a dumb idea. The only money you seem to make from event videography seems to be the up front agreed upon price. I just thought if anyone knew of an inexpensive way to put it on your site you guys would.

I know I said I would leave, but I did find what I was looking for finally. Imagefolio seems promising, but it looks like I am going to have to take a crash course in server side applications. All I wanted to do is make a little money to pay for my addiction and it is really becoming to much like work.
