Default Sony DCC-DVD92E Battery

just bought the above camcorder, and i only get about 60 - 70 mins time on battery.

Sony battery = £50.

do i have to get a sony battery or is there a subsitute kind i can buy cheaper

Sony NP-FP50 lithium

You'll be able to get a non-branded battery for half the price of a Sony. Google the name of the battery.

kinda new this but

1. Is it possible to buy a battery that will last longer but thats double the size but still fits if that makes sense
2. Any brands to stay clear off i see Uniross do one for £25

The batteries will be the same footprint, but will stick out of your camera more (and be a lot heavier!)

so basically i can get a NP-FP90 and it will replace my FP50

I have never used them, si can't comment. Check out thre prices on Keene - http://www.keene.co.uk/ - I have used them a few times and never been dissapointed.
