just a couple of questions, do you have a problem with copyrighted music? Are you allowed to play anything or is it just this crap copyright free music? Also do you have any ideas of anything that works well on local tv? |
You're subject to normal copyright law, as napster proved - I think that you can probably "get away with" short excerpts from published musical items as news reportage, but if you want to play out full-length tune recordings and earn some income from this, I'd suggest you might be on very dangerous ground if a copyright enforcing organisation decoded to take you on.
For their point of view, guys like some of the people here who use copyright music in edits just aren't worth going after - but if one of our friends started making serious money from a piece of work which included a copyright piece of music, then the copyright owner could be out for a share + big damages!
Finally, if your work will be broadcast, you'll need to get a release on all the copyright music you've used. This isn't easy, either!
Good luck!
