hey mark w, thx for the comment. As far as history goes, its a underground thing where people around the country practice dancing in the ways that you see it and pretty much go to competitions for money. Many competitions are crew battles. A crew is like a sports team, and a bunch get together create the team and compete as a team, and in a battle or round within a competiton, they take turns battling back and forth from crew to crew and each turn a different member of each crew goes. Ussually 3 judges give out points for dancing and doing the dance moves on beat or just doing those difficult and amazing moves that you see. They also ta a point away if you bite off of someone, as such maybe this specific move is a signature move of another Bboy, so if you did that and the judges/everyone realized u bit of of him, you lose the point most cases. When you see a dance routine in my video of all of the crew members doing something together, thats sort of like a transition to start off their next BBoy run, so they would do the amazing crew routine and that starts one BBoy to do his dancing. The grand prize is usually from $1000-$3000+.
thx for the tips, the interviews and stuff as you mentioned is a great idea. I going to leave that to a documentary movie that I will eventually make of a Bboy dancer who im great friends with and is one of the best in the East Coast (documentary/story). The interviews would come in handy like that. I wish i got more camera angles, but the thing is ongoing and once i get up from (the best seat in the circle) I would have a hard time finding somewhere else to get a great shot. I will try it next time for sure.
thx everyone.
