So, enlighten me about the steps you took to produce this effect - what programs etc? Also what exactly is rotoscoping?

You have to wait untill the end to see it glowing... This is a very old video, and it took so long to add the glow effect that i just gave up...

Well the first step after capturing the footage is to export it as a filmstrip, which you then edit in photoshop. Its basicly edited frame by frame, but the effect that makes it look like a lightsaber (lots of gaussian blurs etc) is done right at the end to the whole thing. Rotoscoping is editing on filmstrips in photoshop in order to create special effects.

There is a bit too much noise in the glowing part for my taste but still, nice job.
