Thanks Stripe, at least your not a spiritual neanderthal. lol Jackanory style was the target of the video so at least I hit that mark.

You are right the wind was moving up and down and the sea was moving side to side. After Tim's advice I have already put a bit more movement in them so it is clear which one is "talking".

I realise I missed the mark with the story but that's fine it was a good learning experience.

Thanks for watching and your comment.

@Tim, It was very thoughtful of you to give me some considered time rather than rushing your critique. It's perfectly ok not to like the contents of any of my videos as they are often quite "niche". What isn't ok is that you point out the obvious mistake I made with the placement of the back light.

I did have it on the other side when I was setting up the scene but thought it didn't look right when Steve arrived so I put it on the left which still wasn't quite right but the place it really needed to be was in the middle of my pond and I couldn't move the set because of the fire I'd started for the over the fire shot. Anyway yes, as usual you are right about the back light not matching where the moon is.

As for the writing, I'm under no illusions about my writing skills. I was "the special needs kid" when it came to English at school. It only took me about an hour to write and another half hour to do the grammar and spelling corrections after Mrs M had read through it. I have been working on another story about a young boy who is a wizard and goes to wizard school but I don't think it would catching on.

I did try putting reverb on the voice but through my logitechs seemed to blend to much with the background sounds too much so I took it off.

As always thank for spending time to watch and comment.

Respect on the Maurice White gag.

LOL. One thing I love about this forum is though we take filmmaking seriously, we don't take ourselves too seriously.

Well I hope I never do.

I forgot to tell you how I did the flame. It was very easy I filmed the flame put it on the time line reduced the opacity a little, then put a piece of media above it that was blue, green, yellow & red. There, you now have a multi coloured flame.

    Simples.

Although I didn't watch it all I thought it was quite good, I thought the lighting on his face was perfect in such a dark environment (especially the close up). Just the right amount of light gave his face a nice colour, spanning light to dark without loosing anything.

I also liked the shot through the fire, with the distortion effect that this creates.

Thanks for viewing Matt. I was going for the lighting that the BBC seem to find fasionable at the moment for interviews and talking heads.

    I've done the corrections Tim.

I thought it was really professional midnight. But I found myself distracted by that girls butt in the blue leggings and boots. Was that intentional?

Ha Ha, Yes, I always like to put in a little comedy moment in all my stuff. VPL should be banned.

A nice young man called Surov Denis (from Russia) has written a piece of music for this video. Here is the new version.

I love watching your more creative efforts develop before our eyes. The re-edit and the new music are definite improvements - whilst I liked your own "soundscape" this feels more in keeping with the film. Well done Surov!
