about the transition, I agree with TFV, you don't want that much bling in your vids, it makes em look more amateur than anything else, you never see them in pro clips, or used in very, extremely specific situations, usually tailor made transitions.

My opinion there, leave alone blue screen and SFX for now, I'd focus on the following points

    1. storyboard, so you already have an idea of how your scenes are going to look like
    2. specific, dedicated shooting sessions, so you can get EXACTLY the shots you want
    3. rythm, sync, shorter clips = faster rythm (usually)
    4. image composition (see photography tutorials)

Then you can probably get down with lighting as well

then maybe some SFX to begin with

at least that's the path I'm following and it seems to work alright so far (not that I'm very advanced, not at all)

Thanks for all your excellent advice! Used some of it on my latest video which is currently uploading but that's nothing too fancy... Just a vid of one of our best fighters before and during the fight!

you're welcome, actually going for shorter clips might help you focus on more specific points, I know I'm going that route for now, short clips with one or two themes for me to work on (transitions, fx etc...)
