about the transition, I agree with TFV, you don't want that much bling in your vids, it makes em look more amateur than anything else, you never see them in pro clips, or used in very, extremely specific situations, usually tailor made transitions.
My opinion there, leave alone blue screen and SFX for now, I'd focus on the following points
1. storyboard, so you already have an idea of how your scenes are going to look like
2. specific, dedicated shooting sessions, so you can get EXACTLY the shots you want
3. rythm, sync, shorter clips = faster rythm (usually)
4. image composition (see photography tutorials)
Then you can probably get down with lighting as well
then maybe some SFX to begin with
at least that's the path I'm following and it seems to work alright so far (not that I'm very advanced, not at all)
