Marc, AE is serious wonga!

If it's not pointing out the obvious then before you buy make sure you have some free time, downlaod and install the 30 day trial version and give it a serious thrashing to make sure it will be what you need and you (personally) are able to do what you need in it.

I can recommend a couple fo decent books if anyone is interested.

Also, find time to evaluate the difference between the standard and proffessional versions. Or is it still called the 'production version'? Don't fall into the trap of buying the cheaper one only to find out you need more from it than it can give.

Cheers Marc - I'll look forward to reading it.

I get on great with Premiere - but haven't a clue with After Effects - not managed ANYTHING with the flipping program!

It's not as up to date as you might want. Written for V5 but as a heads up to get you going it still applies.

Alternatives would be the two books my Meyer. The intro book is http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...207049-0659810

I was recommended all of these as the best 'teach yourself' guides.
