Thread: Beginner quality

    Default Beginner quality

    Hi Mike,
I have been using a Sony DCR-TRV14E to film.
Used the supplied USB cable to capture.
Used Ulead Videostudio 7 to capture, edit and burn.

Editing went well and burnt final copy to disc as a SVCD. The final quality was pretty poor and washy.

Do I need to invest in a DVD writer and/or firewire card?

Will this make a big difference?

    Yours in anticipation,

    Nigel.

Yes it makes a huge difference in quality.

USB simply is not the answer. Invest in the Firewire card and your capture quality will improve significantly.

    Thanks purejammy,

I did read all my Sony documentation and scoured thier site... this was an exercise in futility. seems starnge that the manufacturers make little effort to support thier products.

Will get a firewire card. Any you can recommend?

Also, will a dvd writer improve greatly on the svcd?

    Thanks again,

    Nigel

Any bog standard OHCI Firewire Card will do the job. Do a google on Firewire or search on Ebay.

Yes, DVD quality is a significant improvement also. Personally I use a Pioneer burner and have had no problems with this.

    Good luck with your movies.
