Default MicroMV to MiniDV - Please help

    Dear All,

I hope you can help. I have a slight problem in transferring footage from MicroMV format to MiniDV tape. Can I ask - is this possible.

I have approx 5+ hours of MicroMV footage which I want to edit and I cannot unless I use the software supplied with the camera.
The Micro MV camera is a Sony DCR-IP220E and I also have a Sony (MiniDV) camera model DCR-TRV20E.

What I want to do ideally is transfer the footage from MicroMV to MIniDV so that I can edit. I saw that you had a while back someone with the same problem.

I think the advise given was to hook the cameras up together using SVideo and then record tape to tape. When I plug my two cameras together I can view the footage on the miniDV camera but cannot record.

Any ideas how I can physically record the footage from the MicroMV camera onto MiniDV tape??

Any feedback would be a great help.

    Thanks.

SVideo is a Video Only carrier. You will also have to connect the audio from your micro DV camera to your Mini DV.

    Good luck

    I don't particularly need audio.

However, the cable i have is A/V at one end (which goes into the MicroMV camera) and at the other end i have 4 cables (SVideo, red/white/yellow). Yellow is the sudio one audio i believe.

What i need to know though is how to physically record. When i plug both cams together, switch the MicroMV cam to video and the MiniDV cam to record i do not record what is coming from the MicroMV camera. Am I doing something stupid here...?

    Sorry, my mistake.

I have a TRV33, but I assume that the procedure is the same for all sony cameras.
Incidentally the yellow cable is the video cable. Red and white are audio cables. Anyway,

    1. Set up both cameras t PLAY/VR mode and attache the Yellow Red & White cables to each other.

    2. On the MinDV camera press the FN key on the screen and then press PAGE3

    3. Press the REC CTRL button

    4. Press play on the micor dv cam

    5. Press REC START on the mini dv.

As I say I don't have your camera but hopefully this will work.

    Good luck again!

I should have added, if you don't want the audio then simply don't connect the Red and White cables.

    Hi again,

On my sony mini dv I have only one page on the menu screen. The options i have in the column are:

    MANUAL SET
    VCR SET
    LCD/VF SET
    MEMORY SET
    CM SET
    TAPE SET
    SETUP MENU
    OTHERS

    any thoughts..

I assume that your TRV20 is AV-in enabled. Don't have one myself. I would suggest that you refer to the manual if you have it.

Otherwise from the menu options you have listed, I would plump for VCR SET and take it from there.

    Good luck!

Ah just spotted an on-line manual for the TRV20. Page 67 does the trick. If you don't have the manual click on the link below and enter DCRTRV20.

Linking to an online manual - nice; brings a whole new level to RTFM!
