Default Filming from a rally car

I have been asked by a friend if I could suggest the perfect setup for capturing footage shot from a rally car.

Many of his rallying mates use a Sony camera of somesort because they claim that this particular range takes the shocks. I am not convinced! They also need a camera that will accept a remote camera/lens so they can keep the recorder unit safe and place the camera head/lens anywhere they want to, even on the roof!

Has anyone any experience of this? I have heard that some bikers have nailed a small remote camera to their helmets - could this be the same setup?

    Let me know?
