Thread: overlaying a still image in Vegas?

  1. Default overlaying a still image in Vegas?

I want to overlay a still image of a person on a background in Vegas.

But I want just the outline of the person. Cookie cutter won't do it for me because it has basic shapes like ovals, circle, square etc.
I want to know if I can just have the outline and the rest of the image transparent? Is this possible?

    Thanks,

    ps: I have Vegas 6.0

    Default

    Yes it is.

Select event pan/crop by clicking on the top icon at the left end of the still on the timeline. Then click 'mask' at the bottom left and use the 'ink nib' tool to darw around the still. Job done.

  3. Default Vegas 6 not got that

Thanks Mark, however Vegas 6 seems not to have that.
I they do it through the composite and then apply FX->mask generator.
I'm looking at it now and trying to work it out.

  4. Default

Actually, I just found out that Vegas takes .psd Photoshop files! I didn't know that. Cool!
Now I can use the ereaser tool to make a transparent background and Vegas just handles it.
