Thread: capture from dvr?

    Default capture from dvr?

I searched around and did not find any info on this subject.

I'm going to buy an Ati AIW x1900 video card for my PC and I believe it has composite video I/O capability. I have a seasons worth of a tv series I would like to capture to my PC for archive as the hard drive on my DVR is full. The show is in High Definition.

Does anyone know if this is possible thru the video card? I'm a newb in this area and any suggestions would be welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

    what model DVR?
Does it have DV link/Firewire connection?

If composite is the only I/O then yes it will connect to the capture card but it might only give you SD res, and it will degrade on transfer.
