Default Widescreen for 4:3 without letterboxed rendering.

Right I have a 2 hour program that is in 16:9 anamorphic. I need to figure out how to author my DVD so that it will display letterboxing on a 4:3 TV but I do not want to render the program with the letterbox on it as this will result in a loss of scan lines and therefore quality.

Anyone donet this before? Help needed asap!

Appz I can use: Adobe Encore or DVD architect

Just make it a 'standard' widescreen DVD just like any DVD you might buy in the shops. Then, those with widescreen TV who watch it will be fine and those with 4:3 TV can watch it just fine, how you want them to, just by changing there DVD payer setting to 'Letterbox', which gives exactly the same 'effect' as you're describing.

If I were you I would do things the 'Hollywood' way and let people have the option of displaying it how they want. That way, when they get a 'real' TV they do not need to then go out and buy another, widescreen version of the DVD.

Hope this is what you're after.
