    Unhappy wmv with alpha channel

    Hi

I've created a short graphical sequence in after effects which I need to export with transparent areas, in order to place into a media player which will have dynamic text feeds and pictures in the background. This will then be displayed on a portrait lcd at 720x1280.

This isn't a problem with a an uncompressed avi, by rendering RGB+Alpha, but the file size becomes unfeasible (1.7GB). The ideal encoding format is wmv, but I can't find any way of retaining the transparency.

Am I deluding myself that wmv files can do this? And if not, are there any other formats which do allow transparency?

    Thanks

Sorry to tell you this but WMV files don't do Alpha Channels. You could try encoding to a Quicktime MOV but I doubt the file size will be any better.
