Cool High defintion 4:3 aspect ratio

    hi guys

I'm about to capture HD footage shoot from the Sony FX1. I'm importing to Premier pro 1.5. What settings do I use for the new project. If I choose pal 4:3 will that just crop the 16:9 picture. Will it distort the picture to fit 4:3 or will it just crop the sides? Or will the downconvert to standard dv setting solve this problem for me?

    help appreciated

    John

High def in 4:3? Never even considered trying it. To be honest, I'm at a loss to see why you might want it.

I'd pretty much go as far as to say that by producing a 4:3 project from a camera that record widescreen properly like that is simply alienating those who want to watch video properly.

Personally, there's no way I'd spend money on a 4:3 production.

    but anyway...

My point is that it is such an uncommon thing that I'll be surprised if anyone actually knows the answer. Your best bet might just be to try it and see what happens.

You may have a good reason to require 4:3 output, but it is far better to edit in the native video format and convert after.

So I should shoot and export everything in wide screen?
