    Default Capturing Video-Mac

    Hello All,

I am currently using a Powerbook G4 (not-Intel Duo Sad). I am beginning the long journey of becoming a Video Editor, but I need an amateur setup at home. The first piece I need is a capture device that captures (and imports well into Final Cut Pro HD) the following:

    VHS (Directly from VCR)
DV/Mini-DV (Directly from camcorder, or a deck)
    DVD (From DVD player)

I've heard rumors of Pinnacle MovieBox 9 working on a Mac, but haven't looked further into it.

VHS - you need an alnalog to dig convertor, the canopus advc55 is often recommended - -http://www.canopus.com/products/ADVC55/index.php

DV - straight in your firewire port, no probs.

DVD - capture thru a to d device or get the .vobs of the discs onto your HD and edit them, many discs are encrypted so can be fiddly.

    Default import Analog

Yeah, tell me about the hardware to import VHS. I've never been able to do it without ging out-of-house to a friend who had a really expensive conversion deck.
