Thread: Vegas will not play video track in .avi files

Default Vegas will not play video track in .avi files

I have an old Canon Ixus v3 digital camera. The video files I take on it are in an .avi format, but when I try to edit them in Sony Vegas 6a, I only get the audio track.

I have other .avi files that work fine, both audio and video tracks are fine in vegas, but these files from my camera won't work.

    Any suggestions?

deff a codec problem, ive had problems with them in the past and it sucked. some times it would work, sometimes it wont. best bet is to dl all the codecs out there for avi etc.

How do you do that? Change it to a Mpeg?

But I can play the files fine in Windows Media Player and other video players, so is it still a codec problem then?

Where can I then get all the avi codecs I need?

Only do this as a last resort! - Sorry Mark to undermind you but tthis process will result in a loss of quality. The correct thing to do is find the appropriate codec.
