Thread: Newbie to Encore DVD

  1. Default Newbie to Encore DVD

I want to build an automated menu.

I know how to choose an avi as my automated menu background, but what I want is to be able to scale the window down so it only takes up half of the menu.

I cannot see how to resize.

    Any help???

    Thanks in advance.

Apologies for the late reply. I missed this thread.

Resizing of video would come under the generakl heading of 'editing'. Encore DVD is not an editor of video. You are very limited in what is achievable in that respect. The few functions available depend on what version you have.

What you need to do to reduce your video background is to do this in your video editor (Premiere?) using standard PIP techniques and then export that out with perhaps a black background over a section of the clip. When you import this into Encore you will have your reduced video sitting in the corner and you can place your buttons over the top of it or indeed anywhere over the static part of your clip.

I've done this in one project. Works fine.

    Thanks Alan.

I was worried because I knew you'd have the answer and no-one seemed to be answering this.

I actually already did what you described but it is good to get confirmation on how to do it.

    Cheers

    Frank
