Default Determining the bitrate of a video

Hello, I am new to these forums.

I download a fair amount of DIVX videos off bittorrent or Limewire to re-encode and watch on my PSP. There is rarely an .ifo that lists all of the videos attributes. When I re-encode the movie I have no idea what the bitrate of the original video file was so I often encode it at around 900kbps. Im sure most of the time the videos are only 600-800 hundred but I have no way to be sure. I really dont want to waste precious space on my memory stick by over encoding the bitrate..

Does anyone know of software that lets you find a video file's bitrate?

PS. I am using a hack for psp that lets you view all video file types in full resolution (480x272)
