    Default capturing in premiere pro

Im using a canon xl-1s and I have had no problems. recently however when I capture I get video but no audio. if I change my capture settingd to PAL instead of NTSC I get audio but the whole thing needs to be rendered. I have captured many videos and all of a sudden this started to happen. Any Ideas or anyone heard of this before?
