Default How's this for an Editing setup?

I'm rebuilding my system and I wondered what any of you thought of my proposed choices.

    Asus P5WD2 Premium Mobo
    P4 Dual Core 3Gig CPU
2x1MB Geil Dual Channel DDR PC5400
Asus Extreme 6600 TOP 256MB PCI-X Graphics Card

Does that sound like a good combination?

    Thanks for reading

I already have my previous set of SATA drives, I'm more concerned with my choice of backbone for the PC.

Looks good to me. Take into account that the video card is not so important, so you can save some money on that.

What if you want to run a dual display and open the timeline across both of them? It will also allow you to open up more windows and not be constantly having to search for items buried under other windows all the time. For any kind of serious editing two monitors is necessary and that requires a graphics card with dual output.

I was actually rethinking about the Asus Extreme X1600XT Silent 256MB instead, I can use the DVi and the normal vga to ceate dual screen working.

    I think

    any opinions?

I have about 140 for the graphics card and I need PCI-E and would prefer DDR3
