Default Won't detect videocamera for capturing...

    I have Vegas 5.0
I am trying to capture video from my Canon Optura 50 onto the computer. I have done so before with different camcorders but never with this one. It will not detect the camera unless the camera is in "card more." Why won't it detect it on "Tape Mode"?
    Thanks for your help!

Make sure the capture device is set to Microsoft DV rather than SMRT Capture. That could be it.

You are probably using usb to transfer from a card for stills, you need firewire.

I hooked it up to the firewire via the 4-6 Pin and it works. Thanks.

Firewire enables rapid transfer for large amounts of data and comes in 4 to 4 pin, 6 to 6 pin or 4 to 6 pin, have a look at the links it shows you what they look like and the cables can be picked up at any computer shop.

If your computer hasn't got firewire you can buy a card to fit in it, easy to install and very cheap to do.

Hope this helps you a bit.
