Thread: 2 pass twice question

    Default 2 pass twice question

OK, I have rendered a bunch of small files from VOB files using the DVDA templete and included the 2 pass option. My question is this:

I have compiled a project and am now ready to create a complete master file containing all the (smaller) files. Do I still need to use the 2 pass option a second time?

If I use the same settings as the original render will the quality worsen?

    Cheers

    Lorne

Two pass encoding will always maximise quality of encoding as it analyses the video to ensure the video bitrate is adjusted to suite the contents of the video. The video is only encoded on the last pass.

Each time you encode video in a lossy format such as MPEG, you will be definition lose quality. Whether you actually notice the degredation in quality is another matter.

    So yes, chose two-pass again.

    I thought so!
I did some multiple renders of the same file did a test DVD and compared the differences between once, twice and three times (a lady ha!) rendered files!

have to say that the difference is not noticable.... and that is on a 60" widescreen TV

    Cheers for that!
