    Default Canon MV880X

Is this camera any good as it had a good review in What Digital Camcorder and it also said that the mic doesn't pick up the cam's mechanism?
I don't want to buy a camera with noisy motor recordings and if it has i will have to go for something else.

All camcoders pick up motor noise to some extent... some more than others. It really is an inevitable consquence of having any ambient sound, and unfortunately tape based media produces said ambient noise.

I would suggest you to go your local Jessops and judge the noise yourself.

Yes i think i will go and do that and try them out at Jessops. I have heard that the MV8xx range are more noisy than other models so i may have a look at the MVX3xx range.

I have lots of cameras and can honestly say that motor zoom noise has never annoyed me. Ambient sounds usually drown it out and if they dont a filter in the edit will fix it.

If you want to be sure to avoid it just use an externally mounted mic.
