    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Im trying to capture video from my xbox i have all the necessary cables and im using a hauppage card im also using this tutorial http://www.videoforums.co.uk/guide-wondergoals-1.htm

Everything goes fine up until the part where it tells me to select a compression when i go to the compression box it doesnt list any compressor but : No Compression HCW2 Format. Ive tried capturing in that format but it doesnt play in any media player all i hear is sound.

I regret that due to the number of requests, I am unable to provide specific help outside of the forums.

I've just doen a quick google search and it appears you will not be able to capture using VirtualDub and your TV card. If memory serves me correctly, there's an application called wincap that comes with your card.

I went to the Hauppauge site and found this disturbing note in the 'requirements' bit at the bottom -

"Note: when using the WinTV-PVR-500 MCE with WindowsXP, you need a third party TV application such as SageTV or BeyondTV"

This sucks. Why they don't have their own software beats me. I have the PVR-250 and use the supplied 'WinTV 2000' to record flawlessly. Of course the only format it can record to is MPEG 1 or 2, since it uses a hardware encoder. The PVR500 looks like a dual version of the 250, so I wonder if it's WinTV 2000 would work with it?
