Default Studio 9 - lip sync

Subject: Studio 9 - lip sync

    Hi

Well they told me my machine wasnt big enough : not in those words used some computer jargon : 'if you only put 10 pence in you cant expect 20 pence out.

    Bought a new machine
    P4 intel
    200gb drive
    2gb ram
    studio 9 plus
    av / dv card

AND I am still getting lip sync problems!!!

Trying to convert a couple of 'OWNED' vhs tapes - not available on dvd - before they are beyond use.

    Lip sync is atrocious
MakeMovie-MPEG - Which is best : CBR or VBR - answer - Depends which forum you visit

Is there anyone who as had this problem and actually come up with a remedy I would e really pleased to know.

My Method : capture avi whole film : lip sync evident VBR : Tried CBR Similar Result
Brainwave : Do 10 MINUTE segments - nope didnt work - CBR or VBR

Is there something I am Missing perhaps a setting - the studio pdf is useless enter constant or variable and i couldnt find any descriptions of bitrate

back to another go - just have to try different settings

    regards

You're dropping frames for some reason.
Maybe that your VHS tapes are too damaged? What is their condition?

You sound probably right : this video is not pristine
Is that the only reason for dropping frames - I know i have had to turn the hi-fi sound off for crackles interference

thanks foe the info BUT is there ant way it can help me or do ii just offset every 5 mins or so

At what stage does the audio/video go out of synch? I'm betting it's just after capture? If I'm right, then you need to look at how you're capturing as that's where the problem lies.

    What are your capture settings?

I would suggest that you try reducing capturing using the huffy video codec. http://www.divx-digest.com/software/huffyuv.html

I am guessing your system is having difficulty handling the encoding and capture. This should reduce the amount of work required by your PC.
