    Default New to Adobe Premier

I am using Adobe Premier 7 and I imported an avi file into my project. When I drag the imported avi file to the timeline and try to play it in the monitor window, I can't hear any sound. When I jog over the timeline, I can hear sound but just not when I play the video. Is there a setting I have to set in order to hear the sound while playback?

Did you check that your sound output is set to be your sound card rather than your AV device? I don't have PPro fired up at present but, from memory, there's a drop down box for your playback window where the option exists to choose where you want sound to go.

You're more than welcome, Luke - it was good of you to go the extra mile, anyway. If I was as nice a guy as you, I'd have fired up PPro and found the exact dialog boxes that I alluded to so I could give the guy a decent answer - but I was too lazy, and left some pretty vague directions instead.

I'm used to having my glory stolen: I'm a PR guy and write all the articles for my company that get published in the press - but they all appear with someone else's name, photo and biography. You get used to it... :-(

Oh - and that's your glory... LOL. (Just doing my bit for the board)
