A number of people have asked for a more detailed explanation of the scrolling video in the opening titles post at
http://www.videoeditingforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=328
The following is a basic guide to scrolling Picture in Picture using Media Studio Pro.
Step 1:
Place Background video on track Va.
Also, I want the scrolling video to stand out againts this.
So I place a 'Monochrome' Video Filter on the clip
Step 2:
Create a Moving Path for the scrolling Video (Picture in Picture)
I set the size of the video (PIP) to 200 x 160 pixels for all key frames in the clip
In the same moving path I set the first key frame to 170 x 700. This ensures that any applied video clip starts its move off-screen (at the bottom)
I set the end of moving path key frame to 170 x -100. This ensures that the video finishes off-screen (at the top)
The net effect is a video scrolling off screen from bottom to top.
Step 3:
Place first video clip on V1 (Video Overlay Track)
I clip the video to exactly 5 seconds
I then apply the moving path (Step 2) to this Clip
Step 4:
Place second video clip on V2 (Video Overlay Track)
Ensure that this clip is offset by the clip on V1 by exactly 1 second
I then apply the moving path (Step 2) to this clip
Step 5:
Place third video clip on V3 (Video Overlay Track)
Ensure that this clip is offset by the clip on V2 by exactly 1 second
I then apply the moving path (Step 2) to this clip
Step 6:
Place fourth video clip on V4 (Video Overlay Track)
Ensure that this clip is offset by the clip on V3 by exactly 1 second
I then apply the moving path (Step 2) to this clip
Step 7:
Place fifth video clip on V5 (Video Overlay Track)
Ensure that this clip is offset by the clip on V4 by exactly 1 second
I then apply the moving path (Step 2) to this clip
Step 8:
Place sixth video clip on V1 (Video Overlay Track)
Ensure that this clip is offset by the clip on V5 by exactly 1 second
I then apply the moving path (Step 2) to this clip
By this stage the clip simply slots on to the end of the clip in step3
Step 9:
Repeat this process until you have as much scrolling video as you need
Finally press play and enjoy
Unfortunately I am not a Premiere User, but I think the screen shot will provide the general idea. I do know that this can be replicated in Premiere.
Hopefully one of our Premiere contributors will be able to add the Premiere speak to this guide.
