    Default What software?

    Hi
im new to video editing and have a couple of questions

I have downloaded the video from my Panasonic NV-GS11 onto my desktop using the windows video software, but the resolution is good but only in a small window, if it is saved to a bigger window, the resolution suffers

Am i able to get higher res vidos out of my camera? if so what software do you recommend i use

The video i have created is here

    video

As you can see the vidoe is ok (well ok for what i want), but to small

    thanks for any advice

Thats because you've encoded with WMV at a frame size of 320x240 and video bitrate of 696kbps. That's fine for internet streaming, but obviously not for editing.

What software are you using to capture? I'm guessing Windows Movie Maker? Capture to DV.

You can capture in DV AVI (which means what you get on your PC is an exact copy of all the date on your DV tape). I've never used WMM, but believe this is labelled "Highest Quality AVI" or something similar.

what do you recomend i use/buy to capture the video in the best quality onto my pc, before i attempt to edit it,

i have a copy of adobe premier, but the compression windows movie maker uses, it does not suport, as i cant import direct of the camera with premiere

You should be able to import from your DV camcorder in Premiere using your firewire connection. What error message is displayed?

    Im using premiere 5.5

Its setup to use video for windows
    frames size 640x480

Capture settings are Video For Windows but it says unable to connect to capture driver

With the camera plugged into the DV port, its file - Capture - Movie Capture

a window opens with record button at top - click record, but it runs a time line but captures to frames

    when stopped error message

    Unable to open that file.
File contains no audio or video, or is in use by another application

Possibly because as i mensioned earlier

Capture settings are Video For Windows but it says unable to connect to capture driver

Do you know how to fix this? or make it work

    Andy
