You're having the same problem as me. I presume you mean that you put your analogue source into a home recordable DVD system?

I've done that and want to edit the files in prem pro.

The only thing that can be done is the files on the DVD need to be converted first to straight AVI so they can be edited.

    This could take a while.

Anyone suggest any good conversion progs that are Freeware?

I followed FAQ 10, but now when I try to import the file into Premiere pro 1, it will not import. The box is open and just stays there saying importing.

I was able to import the file into the trail version of Premiere 2.0.

Anyone know how to get around this? thanks.

At great expense you could buy the mainconcept mpeg plugin which will give you native MPEG editing in PPro without conversion and works very well.

I have never tried to import vob files have always ripped to mpeg first.

There is a demo version for download but I,m unsure of the limitations if any, and of course you would need to get it all done quick.

I have found that Premier Pro has problems importing Type 1 AVI files. I have a camcorder that records in .MOD and I have to convert these files to AVI before importing to Premier Pro. At first I could not figure out why Premier Pro would freeze on the import screen, but since I started converting the files to Type 2 AVI all seemes fine.

I am not entirely sure what the difference between the two types of AVI is, but it solved my problem. Hope this helps a bit!
