i'm having the same problem with version 7 and the same problem in my trial version of 9!

did anyone figure out the issue?

it's not just a matter of right-clicking in the right place...

    i don't think...

i've been editing and producing with software for years, and i usually know how to find something...

    this is strange..

sorry. just freakin' out trying to get this video done today.

thank you very much for your help.

i guess i have to call sony and see which upgrade has this feature.

i notice a platinum version of 9, but you say it needs be a "pro" version.

so i'm gonna double check with them before i order something.

that's pretty sneaky of them to require a pro version just to have a common effect like that

I always DEMO s/w before I commit to purchase. Didn't you? No? You didn't? Hmmm... I guess you didn't then?

Oh, and BTW, where is it a common effect? Just so that I know for the future? Yeah? - I wouldn't want to mislead anybody else.

actually, my old job bought it for me, so i wasn't sure about all the features.

and it was that job that required a lot of double time FX, because we were creating short snippets, and it was often handy to speed up the video to fit more footage in a short amount of time.

i used windows media maker to get that job, with those FX.

besides that, don't you see video sped up a lot?

    i do.

Yes I do. I wanted to know what editing package had this "common" fx. Not that it isn't a commonly seen result.

    i do.
And you can do that with Movie Studio.
Hold the Ctrl key down whilst clicking and dragging the right hand end of an event (the cursor gets a wiggly line under it) and it will speed up/slow down to fit the new length you create.

Velocity envelopes, on the other hand are a much more advanced feature which allow you to progressively speed up/slow down (ie increase/decrease the rate at which the event speed up/slows down with time - eg slow clip down gradually until it comes to a stop oe even reverses)
