Default Have PC - Need to capture & edit VHS videos - HELP!!!

    I have a PC - 3.2gig pentium. 1 gig ram - firewire / USB2 inputs

What hardware should I get to capture my old VHS family tapes? (If it does DV too, that would be good)

If ypu have a DV camera you may already have everything you need. First question, do you have a DV camera. Second qustion, what's your budget? Third question, how many hours of video? And just for shits and giggles, fourth question, do you plan to edit the footage or simply put on a DVD?

Got a DV camera (I guess that sorts the DV videoing!)

I've got loads of hours of VHS to copy AND edit - suggestions please!! (Budget 100 - 150)

    Thank you

Then check your manual. Your DV cam may have "analogue passthrough". Essentially this lets you feed an analogue signal to your camcorder, then feed this via firewire to your PC. Neat, huh? Check your manual for a potential 100 saving!

If you're going to do a lot and you're not planning on editing, why not do the easy thang and buy a DVD recorder. For about a 100 you can buy a nice little DVD recorder - whgich has other uses (erm, recoding TV and the like).

Ok, you also want to edit. Darn my over-zealous postings. with that budget, use the search term ADVC on ebay (and then sell it on when you're all done).

    Default Transfering

You might like to check out this website. I have used them before and they are brilliant at what they do. If not then you can plug a VHS into your DVD recorder (you can pick them up cheap) and just press play and then record. Your Done.

    Good Luck

You can 'pimp' your company as long as it's in the correct section.
