Default Split screen effect in Premiere Pro

I have been using Marc's paper on creating Dallas type titles. (http://www.videoforums.co.uk/reviews...2_articleid/73). These instructions are for Premiere 6.5. I cannot work out how to create the transparency effect in Premiere Pro. Can anyone help?

You don't need to. If you resize a video in one layer using the motion settings, the layer underneath will automatically be seen through the resulting black footage.

Thanks, but I am doing something wrong. he only way that I can see both clips is by reducing the opacity. I have reduced the clip size using black as the fill colour, so I have definitely misunderstood somewhere along the line. can you help me some more?

    Cheers

In the effects tab (the one next to the preview window) there is a default adjustment called 'motion'. Open this up and you'll see the scale effct. Reduce this et voila.

This squashes the video and the black background where I have reduced the clip size is still opaque. I have missed something somewhere.

Ok. Use the clip effect under transform in video effects.

That's the way I did it. The clips reduce in size in both video1 and video2 tracks but the video 2 clip does not appear through the black background in video1 unless I change the opacity.

I don't know if you are in to football, but I am listening to the Bristol City phone-in at the moment and I don't know which is the most frustrating!

    I appreciate your help.

My bad. I meant crop not clip. Using crop will do what you want.
