Thread: Advice on Laptop specs

  1. Default Advice on Laptop specs

Iím in the process of making enquiries on obtaining for a pensioner lady a refurbished laptop to do some basic editing of her the footage from a small camcorder she has obtained. Until recently she had been learning this on my desktop machine but the virus lockdown has put a stop to that for months now.

I have asked a firm who specialise in refurbished machines to advise on a machine with at least 16gb of memory and they have advised to upgrade to a SSD from a standard Hard Drive.

I mentioned to the company my lack of knowledge of Graphic cards etc. and they reply that "We have no graphic card laptops". From my limited knowledge, I thought that a dedicated graphic card was advisable for video editing if not essential.

What do forum members suggest on this matter please?
    Thanks. Wynn.

In my experience you will do fine with an onboard graphics card.
