    Horrendous.
    I don't dispute that the shots fit the frame better vertically, but I was constantly looking to the right and left (like a triptych).
    I don't think I culd ever fully appreciate a vertical mode shot as I am encumbered by eyes that are laid out horizontally.

    youd hope by now people would be better educated. seemingly, it appears to have become accepted. how many times do we see this on TV especially news reports where ...they no longer fill in the empty space at the sides

    Yep, I struggled with that too. It was a linear/portrait kind of film, but it was hard work to watch.
