Change background just like with Zoom

Hi,
I am video newbie using a Canon EOS M50 and online editing software.

I am fascinated how MS Teams and Zoom let the user change background image and is wondering - could this be done with video recording as well?
My small recording room have a very dark and boring color that I'd like to spice up with some other motive.

I have tried using Chroma replacement with colored hanging fabric with poor result.

Anyone aware of if one could record with a custom bg-image?

Whilst the intelligent background replacement in Zoom and Teams are very clever, they will be far below the quality you can achieve with even poor chroma replacement.
The keys to getting this to work properly are
1. Even colour background (no wrinkles)
2. Evenly lit background with your subject lit brighter
3. Separation between background and foreground.

I can see 3 is going to be a problem for you with yur space restrictions but work on 1 & 2
