    Default Choppy Video in Editor

    Hi there

    I take video with my Fuji XT-3 camera on various setting i.e. FHD and 4K.

    When I play it back thorugh Windows Media Player they all play fine but when I play them through a Video Editor it is really choppy.

    The Video Editors I use are Corel Video Studio and DaVinci resolve.

    My PC is the following spec;

    Windows 10
    Intel i7-440K CPU @3.5 GHz, 4 cores
    RAM 16GB
    ASUS Z87 Pro motherboard
    NVidia GeForce GTX 650 Video Card

    Any ideas why it is so choppy in the editors?

    Thanks for your help

    Your PC can't handle it. An editor is designed differently than a media player so will allocate the available resources differently and playback is the first thing to suffer. Try to see if you can use proxies that way you can do most basic editing without upgrading your entire system.

    Are the codecs h.265? I had the exact same issues on an HP Envy Phoenix with almost the exact same specs I had the GTX 650 and read up on the codecs and GoPro's website had a list of compatible graphics cards and it wasn't listed to work with h.265 so I upgraded to a cheap GTX 1050 Ti that I paid under $100 and it fixed everything. It still doesn't like the h.265 when it comes to 360 video and I have to render using the h.264 at 4K instead of 5.2K to edit.
