Lightbulb New PC for Video Editing HEVC 264/265. AMD Threadriper 3970XC or Intel i9-10980XE

    Hi all

I need to upgrade my current PC and looking at either the AMD Threadriper 3970XC or Intel i9-10980XE CPU's.

Reviews have sent me round in circles as they tend to contradict and many review purely for gamers not video editors.

    Anybody got any thoughts?

    Thanks very much

AMD, it has clearly surpassed Intel in the latest editions and will have no problem "ripping" through h2.65 8k footage if you back it up with enough ram and an nvidia GPU until adobe shifts their support in favour of AMD there as well. If you're using another editor, check the product support page to see if they support AMD GPU's since they have a financial advantage.
