    Default Unsupported AVI?

Hi all, newbie here...just got a digital camera and have been going through the excellent guides, all is going great, only to fall at the last hurdle...Frameserving to mpeg

I'm getting a message Icp.AVI could not be opened or unsupported when trying to open in TMPGEnc. I installed the aviwrap.dll and the plugin like the guide says...still no luck.

Sorry if this is a stupid question...looked in the search and found nothing.

Also, I seem to be getting poor a quality DV capture...(I can see a lot of interlace artifacts)..is that normal? Can someone point me in the right direction to help improve the quality?

    Thanks!

your camera captures dv interlaced. You'll need to combine the fields.

as for the framserving, i've never had any problems with it. can you open the avi in other progs?

Yeah, I can open the avi in other programs fine. Only having problems when trying to frameserve.

You'll need to combine the fields.
    How do I do this?

Ok thanks..I've solved the problem with TMPGENC not accepting my premier avi's...it seems I downloaded an old version of the aviwrap driver (bloody emule! )

But, to continue my problem if the interlaced capture....here's an screenshot of the sort of artifacts I'm getting....

please help a newbie in need!

OK....it's official, I'm an idiot.....just realised I was capturing in NTSC and not PAL (cause am fay Scotland) and the problem went away.

I guess thats what happens when you are too excited to get things up and running. You just click, click, click and don't think.

    Cheers..

    PS...Marc Peters, your website is a god-send!
