Default I have Ulead Stuido 7 but want to start with Adobe Premiere

Well, here's the deal. I haven't even had a chance to get out and get actual footage of ANYTHING yet, due to the weather. But I'm all setup and ready to go. I purchased Ulead Movie Factory, which has Studio 7 and a few other programs with it. I have Adobe Premiere Pro, and would love to start with it due to all of the cool features. But am I getting way ahead of myself? Would it be a dumb move to start out with such a complex program when I have little to no experience with video editing, or even taking video for that matter? If I do decide to holdoff, with the quality of whats on the tapes diminish in 6 months - 1 year? Thanks.

If you have Premiere, and if you're going to do a lot of editing, there's no reason not to use it whatsoever. As for the tapes? They'll be fine
