Default Capturing from an analogue JVC camcorder

I have some old video that was captured using a JVC camcorder. I am now just about getting the hang of my new DV camcorder and the video editing possibilities, but I would like to transfer this old footage to the PC so I can then put it onto DVD.......how do I go about this.
The camcorder has two output terminals, one yellow and one white, marked video and audio respectively.
I appreciate that I will need some sort of capture card, but what kind and what spec should I be looking for.

    Cheers Jim

Default Capturing from an analogue JVC camcorder

    Hi Jimhammie

I have the same 'problem' as you but I'm capturing from an SVHS video deck, so I purchased a Sony DVD recorder and connected one to the other using the S-video to mantain some sort of 'good' picture quality. I then burn onto DVD-RW and the DVD deck is connected to an analogue capture card that was built into my pc when I bought it. The quality is fine for home watching. Your possibilites are the DAC 100 analogue to Digital convertor see Jessops website for details or a PCI capture card with analogue input ports and get a firewire port aswell on it. The only cards I can recommend are the Pinnacle ones but the software and compatibility issues send a lot of users reaching for the Prozac bottle. There are also breakout boxes but I'd probably avoid those.
