Default PC So Slow With Premiere Help

    Hi,

I'm sorry if this is an annoying question but can someone just let me know if my specs are up to the task of editing 4k but usually HD video?

I've done everything to speed up Premiere Pro - play back in low quality, creating proxies etc, but as soon as I edit some footage by adding lumetri color or something, it's just so slow it's unbearable, and I thought I had a really fast PC.

If anyone could point out any potential culprits in my hardware or let me know that the hardware is fine and I should be looking elsewhere that would be great.

    Thanks a lot,

    Geoff

It might be me but I can't make out the text in any of the screen snips.
What kind of CPU are you using and how much memory does your system have?
I've got an old i7-4770K @ 3.50 GHz, no dedicated GPU and 32 GB RAM which has no real issues with 4K editing in Premiere. It's not super smooth with the more demanding 4K files (60FPS and or >100mbps 4K files are playing a little slow sometimes) but works well enough to edit.
I suspect my system is on the low end for 4K editing and GPU's have little to no effect for Premiere as far as I know.

Another thing that can really help is using proxies:
