    Default 'Sense8' Inspired Transition

    Hey!

I have recently finished Sense8 and I was majorly inspired to write a short film based on some of the shots and transitions. One of them being the famous shot where a person turns into someone else while the scene stays clean and seemingly untouched, although it's obvious they are two separate shots. I want to get this kind of effect, but I cannot find any tutorials or anything that would help me out.

(Something similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYU8w4ONQVo if you skip to 1:05)

I'm still a learner so any help would be greatly appreciated.

You mean the wipe where the people appear from behind a walking monk?

YES! But this wipe transitions two different actors, from one to another. I couldn't find where they do that, but it's very similar effect to the one you've seen

I would need an example to be sure but basically it means shooting the same scene twice and wiping from one to the other. With the monk the wipe is done by a mask line behind his head, similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pD0eHAvYls But instead of text they placed a scene with actors behind it.
