Thread: transferring 8mm to pc

  1. Default transferring 8mm to pc

    Hi,i want to transfer 8mm tapes from sony handycam to my hard drive on pc.I bought honestech vhs to dvd video capture software,but when i wire up to the pc and play it through the capture software the picture is glitchy.
    im sure there is a simple explanation for this but i dont know how to fix it.
    Hopefully someone can advise me how to do this.

    Maybe the play heads need to be cleaned. Is it a DV cassette or true 8mm film?

    Hi thanks for reply.
    its 8mm sony handycam tape
    if i look through the viewfinder on the camera it is playing ok,so cant be a head problem

    What about when you play it back on a TV? Any issues there?
    Could be a cable or a connector problem as well...

    no works fine thru tv
    i dont know much bout this,but it seems like a transfer problem.
    is usb capable of tranfering video like this?

    Aye as far as I recall there are Sony Handycams that offer that possibility. What sort of cable are you using now?

    its a phono to usb cable that came with the easycap
