Thread: transferring 8mm to pc

    I recently posted a saga about capturing from VHS. I won't go through the whole thing, but there were problems with the capture that sound something like yours. The solution came down to putting a DVD recorder between the play deck and the capture device to (presumably) act as a time frame corrector. Perhaps you could scour the second hand stores near you for a cheap DVD recorder and try that.

    so you are saying camcorder playing the 8mm connected to dvd recorder,which is then connected to the capture device?

    That's my suggestion. In my case my Hi8 camcorder worked fine connected directly to the capture device but from my pro VHS deck the signal was unstable and unusable. The signal from the VHS directly to my TV looked fine, so that's analogous to how the signal in your camcorder's display looked good.

    have you tried switching it off... and back on
