Default How to create a dematerialized 4K video with menus

    Hi,

I guess my question needs some explanations.

I am doing personal videos for more than 25 years and I am burning my own disc, starting with DVD and now Blu-Rays. As I mix several videos or add chapter to a longer film, I am creating menus to start the disc where you can choose to go to a specific scene, start the complete..., well like a menu do.
Last I Christmas, I bought a 4k UHD TV as well as a UHD Blu-Ray player. I am considering now buying a 4K camera. I strat looking at PC 4k burners (Pioneer, LG...) but although I have the latest Kaby Lake i7 chip, it seems these burners need very strong PCs.
So I am investigating another solution : the USB Key.

I am using Power Director 15 for editing and authoring. So I create a test video with a small menu, I choose burn disc, I have the possibility to create a folder (I guess like an ISO image) which I did. I have the folder in my PC, no problem. But when I try to read the "disc", neither PowerDVD nor VLC can read or even find a correct file.

So is it feasible, if yes, where do I miss a step ?
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Bruno

What files are in the folder including their extensions?
(I'm searching for a reason why VLC can't find the right file to play)

Hey man, I can't see the exact file's from the pictures they're too tiny. VLC should be able to open a BDMV index file.
BDMV files are sort of like instruction sets that the player (like a Blue-Ray player or VLC) uses to make operational menu's.

You may try MPC (Mediaplayer Classic) as well.
For VLC here are instructions: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=118162

    Thank you so much @Grapes
I am sorry the images are too small but I did not want to send large pictures ti the forum
Do you want me to send you the BDMV folder alone in a larger file ?
I will look at the same time the link you send me
    Best

If you're still experiencing issues after you've read the instructions on the videolan forum sure I'll be glad to have a look. Might be a while before I get the chance to do so though.

    Hi @Grapes
I have downloaded the two files, create an aacs folder in program data, put the two files in the location they mentioned and when I tell VLC to open the BDMV, all I get is the fill movie to start, no menu. If I ask to open the first page of the menu, no problem but there is no interaction between the menu and the scenes

Not quite sure what might be the cause here although I have some suspicions. If you upload the files to www.wetransfer.com and change the settings to link instead of e-mail you can send me a temporary download link and I'll have a look.
